The Technics SBC700 are attractive bookshelf speakers which use a clever flat coaxial two-way speaker unit combining a tweeter for high frequencies and a woofer for mid-range and bass. With the tweeter at the centre of the woofer, the speaker delivers a coherent, integrated sound right across the frequency range, with no directional anomalies.
The flat design eliminates frequency anomalies caused by conventional cone diaphragms, while the magnetic circuit has been designed to handle high power with low distortion. With a rigid drive unit chassis of die-cast aluminium, designed to have a resonance dispersing structure to eliminate even the smallest unwanted vibration, the drive unit delivers accurate and powerful bass.
The SBC700 cabinet is designed to support the drive units securely, preventing unwanted resonance and ensuring a smooth flow of sound. The front baffle delivers maximum stiffness and resonance-damping, while the convex side panels further reduce resonance whilst also preventing internal reflections. Further features are built into the cabinet for high rigidity, reducing unwanted resonance. Internal acoustic absorbent material is used to suppress standing waves. Hand finished in high gloss, the cabinet enhances the high performance of the drivers.
Stunning to look at and to hear, the SBC700 are incredible bookshelf speakers.
