Audioquest Dragonfly Red USB Digital To Analogue Converter
THIS PRODUCT IS A WHAT HIFI 2017 AWARD WINNER!
Best USB DAC £150+
The Audioquest Dragonfly Red expands upon the abilities of the Dragonfly 1.2, with lower power consumption meaning this high quality digital to analogue converter and headphone amplifier can now be used with portable devices. A newly developed USB microcontroller delivers improved signal-to-noise ratio and significantly lower power consumption, drawing 77% less current.
The DragonFly Red utilises the 32-bit ESS Sabre 9016 DAC chip, which employs minimum-phase filtering for naturally detailed, more authentic sound. It uses the ESS headphone amp and a bit-perfect digital volume control of the chip for fine volume control. The Dragonfly can convert audio and music files ranging from MP3s and CD-standard 16-bit/44kHz to native 24-bit/96kHz high-resolution. If your computer's software can recognize and play a format, DragonFly will make it sound its best.
The Dragonfly connects to a PC or Mac via its USB connection and reduces the jitter and noise often associated with music files on a computer. To connect to an iOS device it requires an adaptor such as the Apple camera connection kit. Android devices can be connected by Audioquests own DragonTail adaptor (available separately). The stereo line output connects to your amplifier or stereo system to deliver high quality sound superior to your computer's sound card. The Black can also drive a wide range of the most efficient headphones.
The size of a thumb drive, the Dragonfly Red makes a great companion for laptops and mobile devices, and will give you the best sound possible from movies or music.
