The Ruark Audio R2i (formerly the Vita Audio R2i) is a beautifully designed, simple hifi system with superb sonics. Featuring DAB, DAB+ and FM tuners, a universal iPod dock and auxiliary inputs for connecting other equipment, the R2i is a great modern music system. If you find you have all your music on your iPod/iPhone, and you don't want the clutter of CD cases all over your living room, the R2i could be the perfect hifi for you.
Ruark also provide you with sleep and alarm timers on the R2i, making it an ideal bedside companion and it also features stereo headphones and line output for private listening or connection to a hifi. It also features two line inputs: perfect for connecting external sources and taking advantage of the high-quality amplifier and speakers.

Apple Lightning socket on iPhone 5 and later.
The Lightning socket replaces the previous 30-pin output on Apple products starting with the iPhone 5, 5th-generation iPod touch, 7th-generation iPod nano, 4th-generation iPad, and the iPad mini. This 8-pin socket can be connected to docks designed for older devices using an adaptor (sold separately). However, some control features are not available any more and, even with an adaptor, Apple admits that some devices are no longer supported.
Apple supplies a Lightning to USB cable with iPhones, iPods etc., so connection to USB equipped devices will still be possible. Likewise, wireless connection- by Bluetooth or over a network- is also unaffected.
