The Marantz CD6006 CD Player uses specially selected components such as its reference class 192kHz/24 bit digital-to-analogue converter (DAC), high current power supply and gold plated outputs to ensure a truly lifelike performance. The signal paths are kept as short as possible and carefully mirror imaged for the best performance and employ Marantz's own discrete circuit boards rather than standard integrated circuits.
Marantz has an enviable reputation for building some of the very best CD players at every price point and the CD6006 builds on the success of the award-winning CD6005 (What Hi-Fi?'s Best CD Player under £500) with a new electronic layout for wider dynamic range with lower distortion and more rigid feet to further eliminate vibration and an updated system remote to control the CD, amplifier and network player.
A USB port on the front panel allows easy connection of a device such as a smartphone and the inclusion of a discrete headphone amplifier with its own gain control allows the use of even the most demanding headphones.
The large, clear display provides CD text information but can be dimmed or turned off altogether to let you concentrate on enjoying the first class sound quality.

"A robust, full-figured delivery." "There are decent detail levels in the midrange, and rather more bite and shine to the treble frequencies than we've been used to from 6000 series CD players in the past – which is definitely a good thing." "The 6006 establishes a broad and believable soundstage, positions and focuses well, and makes the interaction between whole sections or individual instruments obvious – there's a tangible sense of performance that nominal rivals (of which there are few at this price) can't quite match." "The Marantz is unflustered, able to deal with small-scale and delicate just as confidently as it does urban bombast."
