The Sony RDR-DC205 is a terrific recorder which features an integrated Freeview tuner, providing superb picture quality and the widest selection of free-to-air terrestrial channels. You can record on to DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW format discs, including high-capacity Dual Layer discs or to the built-in 250GB hard disk. The RDR-DC205 also outputs upscaled, High Definition pictures via its HDMI output, for stunning full '1080p' HD pictures on your HD ready flatscreen TV. There's also the option for 'direct recording', which records content in a lossless, 'as is' manner, so you won't loose any picture quality due to compression.
More advanced features include the ability to pause and rewind live Freeview TV, to watch from the start of a programme as the end is still being recorded (chase play) and to schedule the recording of an entire series with just a few button presses.
The Sony RDR-DC205 also features a USB input for playback of media files such as DivX movies, MP3 music and JPEG photos from memory sticks, flash drives and portable MP3 players.
Despite all these features, the DC205 is easy to use thanks to its simple on-screen display and 8-day Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), which makes setting timer recordings an absolute doddle. No more entering dates, start and end times, with the DC205 you can browse the listings and schedule a recording with the touch of a button.
