"The changes to the audio side of the player reap instant rewards. There’s a notable increase in low frequency heft and weight. Action scenes from Street Kings' DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack are delivered with a great sense of scale and authority", "Picture quality is top-notch too. Blu-ray images look clean and unblemished. The robots in Transformers boast superb detail and solid edge definition", "The DMP-BD55 is also an excellent DVD-spinner, doing a great job extracting fine detail from the transfer of Iron Man. The desert landscapes that serve as a backdrop for Tony Stark’s capture show excellent clarity and definition, especially where the rocky outcrops are concerned." |

The five-star reviewed Panasonic DMP-BD55 if a fully featured, high specification Blu-ray player that delivers a high definition movie experience like nothing you've seen before.
The DMP-BD55 is one of the first Blu-ray player to support the Profile 2.0 standard, allowing you to use many advanced, interactive features found on new Blu-ray discs. For example, picture-in-picture commentary (as you watch the movie the director pops up in the corner of the screen as a 'talking head' and gives you behind the scenes information), BD-Java applications (for enhanced menus and interactive features) and BD-Live (extra content you can download through the BD55's ethernet port).
Imagery is stunning thanks to Panasonic's P4HD (Pixel Precision Progressive Processing for HD) image processor, delivering razor sharp 1080p images and supporting 24 frames per second 'original film' frame rates. Motion is also incredibly smooth without losing definition. The DMPBD55 will also upscale your DVDs to full 1080p resolutions making them look amazing on a large LCD or plasma.
Audio is equally fantastic. Via HDMI, the DMP BD55 supports bitstream output of Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD and Dolby Digital Plus and it will also convert all these formats to linear PCM. Standard Dolby Digital and DTS are also supported and can be output via HDMI, optical or coaxial digital connection. Finally, the DMP-BD55 has a set of 7.1 analogue audio outputs so if your amplifier doesn't support HDMI audio decoding you can still enjoy the fantastic sound quality available on Blu-rays.
Whatever your set-up - the latest receiver, an older amplifier, or just integrated TV speakers - the DMP-BD55 will deliver a superb performance with picture and sound quality that sets new standards at this price.
