The Sony Gigajuke NAS-SC55PKE is a complete multi-room, multi-format, wireless audio entertainment system. It consists of the NAS-S55HDE CD/Hard Disk/Ethernet and Wireless Networked Audio Player/Server with Speakers, the NAS-C5E Wireless Audio Player and the WAP-NA1 Wireless Station hub.
Sony NAS-S55HDE:
The NASS55HDE will play CDs, including CD-R/-RW and MP3 discs and even rip them to its integrated 80GB hard disc. 80 gigs is enough to store hours and hours of music and you can play MP3, Windows Media Audio (WMA), linear PCM (WAV) and ATRAC files directly from the hard disc. USB connectivity means you can also transfer these files to and from compatible USB MP3 players, memory sticks and portable hard discs.
It's the networking features of the NAS S55HDE which really makes it shine. The player connects to your wireless or wired Ethernet home network and lets you stream music directly from your computer or other DLNA compatible devices such as network storage (NAS) drives. Not only that but the NAS S55HDE also works the other way round - as a server, meaning that the NAS-C5E and other players on your network can stream media from its hard disc. But the fun doesn't stop there! Apart from having DAB, FM (with RDS) and AM tuners, if you have an Internet connection, the NAS S55HDE can connect to Internet radio giving you access to thousands of stations.
But there's even more! You can also connect external devices such as iPods or MP3/MiniDisc/DVD players via the stereo line in sockets and record from external sources or the tuner to MP3 or linear PCM. The sumptuous black finish makes the NAS-S55HDE look incredibly swish and the matching 2-way speakers complete the ensemble and give you great acoustic performance.
Sony NAS-C5E:
The NAS-C5E is perfect for use either with the Sony Gigajuke NAS-S55HDE, which acts as a media server, or as a stand-alone player that will stream audio from any DLNA compatible devices such as computers or media servers. Over your wireless network, the NAS-C5E will stream MP3, linear PCM (WAV), Windows Media Audio (WMA) or ATRAC files - access your digital music collection from another room in the house!
If you have an Internet connection, the NASC5E will connect to Internet Radio, giving you thousands of stations to choose from. You can also connect additional devices using the front stereo line in socket - ideal for iPods and MP3 players.
When used with a NAS-S55HDE, you can play different tracks on each device, or synchronise them using 'party mode' - you can even connect several NAS-C5Es to one NAS-S55HDE and have synchronise playback in several rooms at once.
