Opus speakers are
Wharfedale's reference design, built to the very highest
standards and with an obsessive attention to detail.
On the outside, a
hand-matched real wood veneer (so that the wood grain on both
left and right speakers looks perfect in your listening room) is
lovingly coated with several layers of lacquer over a period of
days, to give an incredibly beautiful, hard-wearing, high-gloss
finish.
Inside, the drivers employ
sophisticated materials for strength and quality - woven carbon
fibre cones for bass and soft-domed textile domes for midrange
and treble. Cabinets are thick and internally braced at several
points and details such as the outsized single/bi/triwirable
speaker connections and chunky spikes reinforce the Opus's
no-compromise design philosophy.
The Opus 2s sit in the
middle of the range and are ideally suited as a high-end front
channel for home cinema or music. These are best suited to
amplifiers which can deliver 100 watts or more, per channel and
deliver a wonderful and powerful soundstage with an inspiring
and controlled low frequency performance. Their combination of
superb resolution and stunning looks ensures they are easy on
the ear and the eye.
