For jargon-busting advice, read our
Freeview Guide.
Freeview is the new, free,
digital service, providing over 30 TV channels, over 20 radio
stations plus a new world of interactive services. Digital television means more
channels, transmitted with extra features such as interactivity and a free
Electronic Programme Guide (or "EPG") giving you up to two weeks worth of
programme schedules. And, even with weaker signals, the
more-robust digital transmissions are likely to deliver pictures and sound that
can be rendered perfectly, without ghosting, noise or hiss.
Some Freeview set-top boxes also include a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and
even twin tuners, allowing you to watch and record combinations of different
channels, simultaneously! Coupled with the new "EPG", programming the timer is
simple.
Most people in the UK can receive the Freeview signal, however it is always best
to double check. You can
check Freeview coverage here.
